So classical music (perhaps to its detriment) is music you will often hear in a concert hall setting, where people sit quietly and listen until the piece being performed is over. This is why a very small percentage of the population actually understands what it is; you probably won’t be exposed to it unless you deliberately seek it out and buy a ticket. Or, you may have taken lessons on an instrument when you were a child, and that was your form of exposure. Or you went to a friend’s wedding, and lo and behold, there was a string quartet. Or you may not ever have encountered it in your lifetime, in which case, you’re in for a treat!
